Coach Mike Pires Bio

Mike Pires brings a lifelong passion for soccer and a diverse playing and coaching background rooted in both the United States and Portugal. Raised in Connecticut, Mike developed his foundation in the game playing local travel soccer with the Trumbull Vipers, where he built strong technical skills and a competitive edge from an early age.
He went on to play at Trumbull High School from 2004–2008, competing in the highly competitive FCIAC conference. During his high school career, Mike was part of the 2006 FCIAC Championship team, highlighting his experience in a winning high-performance environment.
In addition to his U.S. experience, Mike gained valuable international exposure by playing summer soccer in Portugal from ages 7–15 with a club team in Oiã, where he was immersed in a development system that emphasizes technical ability, tactical awareness, and creativity.
After high school, Mike continued competing in multiple semi-professional leagues across Connecticut, gaining valuable experience in competitive adult play and further advancing his understanding of the game.
